TWO DAYS GEOTHERMAL BRUSSELS EVENTS

04 February 2020 - 05 February 2020

This 2-days European seminar took place on 4 & 5 February 2020.

This first day presented instruments to answer the environmental concerns related to deep geothermal energy projects that are operational or under development in Europe. The discussions were based on the preliminary results of the GEOENVI project and the final conclusions of the EC tender: “Study on Geothermal plants’ and applications’ emissions: overview and analysis”, conducted by the Ernst & Young, RINA and VITO. The study aims at setting an adapted methodology for assessing environmental impacts and risks of geothermal projects. The event also debated the latest development in terms of environmental regulations and sustainable finance regulations at European level.

The second day continued discussing environmental concerns and was concluded by two workshops: an Industry workshop on reference plants and assets, and ETIP-DG session.
